If you are paying attention to the bongo fleva or music from a new generation in Tanzania, you might have noticed that, once again, there is a new trend. There is a mix or fusion of old school “mipasho” with new flavas. Artists like Shilole can be considered the new pioneers for this top-up genre that is catching attention of industry enthusiasts and especially music fans.
Earlier this year I saw Shilole [with her group of ladies] performing and from the audience reception, I could tell that this new trend is catching up. Looking back at the origins of our music, this style is probably what can be originally considered to be Tanzanian Music. I have seen other artists such as Shaa doing great with this same fusion in her latest single Sugua Gaga.
Here is a new song from Asia featuring Shilole. The song is titled Nawaumbua [a swahili jargon for revealing what is supposedly a secret or hidden].
