You just couldn’t have missed the noises, jubilation and slow moving traffic on the roads his entourage took from Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport where he landed from South Africa where, over the weekend, he scooped the awards that have now redefined his skyrocketing career even further. He made history by becoming the first East African artist with triple wins in a single night.
The warm kernel of happiness occupied the center of being of thousands of fans that couldn’t wait to see him and a glance of plaques he proudly held in his hands. You have done made us proud. Their eyes were telling. Their admiration was obvious him. Some left their work posts to watch him ride through streets and roads that he once walked on almost barefoot and shirtless. With blush of pleasure rising to his cheeks, you could tell he was having that wonderful sense of coming home as a winner.

Perhaps what make Diamond Platinumz story worth paying attention for aren’t just the awards winning marathon. He comes from less than humble beginnings. His childhood was poverty stricken in such a way that, according to his mom, sometimes food on the table was a big question of the day. Through it all, he never gave up. He didn’t join the gang or start abusing substances. He could have but he chose a different path instead. He waited for his lucky hour while making ends meet in legally.
Years later he is no longer that shirtless kid. He gave himself the stage name Diamond and he is now shining like a diamond. Whether his journey has just started or not, it all depends on what he has in store. He understands that he now has to work harder than ever before. To get where he is could have seemed a hard job. It is even harder to stay there. It is a seat millions more are aiming for. As of now, let’s all be a chorus of drawn-out “ohs” followed by laughter and excited applause. He did it!
